Patrick Murphy, the Democratic businessman hoping to unseat one of Congress's most outspoken and controversial figures, will be in Washington on Thursday for a fundraiser with Planned Parenthood.

Murphy, a Florida businessman, is the likely Democratic challenger to Tea Party favorite Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.).

On the invitation, Murphy is described as a "Democratic challenger for Congress, Florida's 18th congressional district & challenger to Tea Party leader and Sarah Palin's choice for vice president, Allen West!"

Tickets for Thursday's reception in downtown D.C. cost $50 per person. Donors who give $500 will be named hosts of the event.

Planned Parenthood Action Fund is its main sponsor, along with eight other groups and individuals.

West has said that "Planned Parenthood women" are "neutering American men" and voted to defund the women's health group.
