Jimmy Kimmel Gives Kids Fake Lie Detector Tests, Hilarity Ensues (VIDEO)

WATCH: Jimmy Kimmel Gives Kids Fake Lie Detector Test

Poor kids. If only they knew a pasta strainer couldn't gauge their physiological reactions.

In a series titled "Jimmy Kimmel Lie Detective," the comedian and late night television host tested how far children would go to defend the truth -- or in some cases, their lies -- by connecting them to fake polygraph machines.

At least three children between the ages of 4 and 8 agreed to the test and readied themselves for Kimmel's interrogation as the Truth Fairy stood watch nearby.

At first, the questions were easy: What's your name? How old are you?

No biggie.

But then they got a little bit trickier: Do you have a girlfriend? Do you like school? Do you ever pick your nose?

And no matter how hard these youngsters tried to hide their reactions, the pesky pasta strainer called them out by buzzing and lighting up like a spaceship.

Still, one boy remained adamant that he had traveled into space, played on the moon and owned a pet hippo. Hey, who's to say a good imagination amounts to an untruth?

In the past, Kimmel has featured segments playing on children's reactions to several dilemmas, including the disappearance of their beloved Halloween candy, a terrible present or pre-chewed food.
