Boy Steals Car At Toy Gunpoint, Goes For Joyride Down Sweden Streets

9-Year-Old Steals Car At Toy Gunpoint, Goes For Joyride

The gun might have been fake, but the crime was real.

A 9-year-old boy toting a toy gun pointed his play weapon at shocked witnesses and shouted, "It's loaded," before breaking into and stealing a parked car in Kortedala, Sweden, according to The Local.

Though the gun is believed to be an airsoft faux-gun, the boy's brazen actions shocked onlookers, The Local reported.

"It's unbelievable," Jan Jentzell of Poseidon, the property management firm which owned the car, told the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. "I've never seen anything like it. It's also so tragic...he's so young."

The boy couldn't have picked a worse car for a speedy getaway. The electric vehicle tops out at 18 miles-per-hour, according to UPI.

A bystander grabbed the boy and held him until police arrived, UPI reports.

The child won't face any criminal charges because he's too young.

The story comes just a few days after ABC reported on an 11-year-old Albuquerque, N.M. boy who stole a car and went on a joyride that was caught on tape. The boy and his underage friends are facing criminal charges in juvenile court.
