"Rizzoli & Isles" will be back on the beat in 2013. TNT has ordered a 15-episode Season 4.
According to TNT, the drama has averaged 7.1 million viewers in its new Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET timeslot. Angie Harmon stars as Jane Rizzoli, a tough police detective and Sasha Alexander is Maura Isles, a very well-dressed medical examiner.
"Anchoring a new night in its third season, 'Rizzoli & Isles' has proven itself to be a strong and enduring hit, not only in terms of the great storylines and performances, but also in terms of the show's stellar ratings," Michael Wright, president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), said in a statement. "We're thrilled that 'Rizzoli & Isles' will continue to be a vital part of the TNT lineup."
Alexander told The Huffington Post that this season Isles will go through some changes. "I think that this season, we sort of move into toughening her up a little bit, in terms of not being so apologetic for who she is. Jane's tough, so Maura will be polite, but I think that this experience with her father and her family has shaken her up a bit where you'll get to see that she has a dark side as well. She can get feisty and she can fight."
