"Unforgettable" is officially coming back to CBS. The network announced on Twitter that the Poppy Montgomery-led drama will return for a second season during the summer of 2013.
The show's cancellation after one season came as a bit of a surprise. The Tuesday night police procedural had an average audience of 12.1 million viewers, higher than some of CBS's other returning shows. Following its cancellation, rumors swirled about other networks picking up the series. Lifetime and TNT were both said to be in the running, but it was CBS who ended up giving the series a second try. Earlier reports have Season 2 with a 13 episode order.
In "Unforgettable," Poppy Montgomery stars as Carrie Wells, a police detective with hyperthymesia, a medical condition that gives her the ability to recall everything she sees. The series also stars Dylan Walsh and Jane Curtin.
This isn't the first time a canceled show has been revived. Comedy Central recently rescued "Futurama" from cancellation, DirecTV saved "Damages" and partnered with NBC to save "Friday Night Lights," and CBS famously rescued "JAG" after NBC canceled it.
