'Shark Wranglers' Series Premiere: Crew Member Jumps Into The Water With Great White Sharks (VIDEO)

Dangerous Waters On The 'Shark Wranglers' Premiere

On the series premiere of "Shark Wranglers" (Sun., 10 p.m. ET on History) viewers were introduced to Chris Fischer and his team onboard the shark research vessel OCEARCH.

Fischer and his crew were on a scientific expedition to locate, catch and tag 50 great white sharks in 40 days. To do that one of the crew members had to put himself within reach of the giant predators.

Brett McBride took on the dangerous role and jumped into the water to guide the sharks into a lift so they could be tagged.

Fischer attracted controversy in April 2012 after a bodyboarder was killed by a great white shark off Cape Town, South Africa while Fischer was filming in the vicinity. Some South Africans claimed that he had put swimmers in danger by chumming the water to attract sharks.

"Shark Wranglers" continues on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on History.
