I think that it has helped that Hillary was a first lady for 8 years and did something similar while in the WH.

It just shows how detail oriented she is that she would even think of the food that is served to visiting dignitaries.

Hillary's approach to diplomacy is absolutely brilliant. Never underestimate the power of a good meal to foster good will and create a more congenial environment. Good job, Hill! As for all the snarky comments, why don't y'all go burn some more meat on the grill? Yummmmmmmmmm. That's AMERICAN. Which is, and it goes without saying, NUMBER ONE!

It is very interesting, but not so surprising, to learn from the New York Times that one of Hillary Rodham Clinton's greatest accomplishments as Secretary of State is improving the food options at the Department of State. Good she weighed in on such a huge issue.

think about it. food is a huge issue. people have to eat to survive. many deals are made over food, many gatherins include food - weddings, funerals, 4th of july celebrations, birthdays, business meetings, dates, face it our country focuses on food - if you don't believe it you haven't been outside in a while.
and then there is comfort food - what better way to make someone feel at home, safe and ready to listen to your point of view than to feed them.

Thanks for a thoughtful response. While I agree and understand that food policy is a huge issue, I am also aware that on which I also am aware that it is an issue on Hillary Rodham Clinton is a HUGE hypocrite. 

 It is fine and symbolically beneficial  to take a bow for giving a preference for sustainable, local, organic agriculture for State Department catered events. Then Madame Secretary and her department, and corporate cronies, should also take RESPONSIBILITY policies that support greedy corporate efforts to create a monopoly in food production and distribution globally. 

Are you aware of Hillary Clinton's long and deep ties to WalMart and particularly to Monsanto, which is forcing GMO (genetically modified organisms) on famers worldwide, in essence making them "rent" seeds from profiteering corporations.  There should be no PATENTS on nature, and no aggressive marketing at the EXPENSE of local, traditional agriculture.   
What Madame Secretary and her department are doing with food and distribution policy globally, in my opinion, is shameful and should be criminal.

There is real "hate" at work in the world.  In my opionion, legitmate, informed, criticisms of our self-serving, 1 percenter, hypocritical Secretary of State are not part of it.   Using a powerful term like "hate" as you do so casually, when not justified, only diminishes effect when it is justified.
 
I really reject use of the "hate" label an  effort to dismiss, brand and discourage political crtiicism and opposition, and opinions simply  because the commenter doesn't like the opinion and does not have the capacity to refute it.  It's kinda like profanity, a crutch. 
 
 I also reject the constant use war metaphors applied to politics, which is very typical of Bush-Clinton mean-spirtied partisanship.
