Steve Jobs is right when he compared mobile devices and desktop computers to cars and trucks such as 18-wheelers respectively. There are more cars than trucks on the road and you'll need the trucks more for heavy lifting than cars. I enjoy the cool apps of the iPhone as much as the next guy. I will even buy Marissa Mayers' assertion that "We are likely to see the end of paper and physical currencies in our lifetime" because of smart phone apps like Square founded by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey where she also happens to be a big investor. When it comes to prolonged web surfing, writing lengthy e-mails or writing more than 20 pages worth of Microsoft Word, Googledocs or iWorks Pages document, I don't see the iPhone (even the new release this year) bridging the gap with my good 'ol desktop computer unless there's a "disruptive technology" or "tectonic shift" in smartphone KB not based on QWERTY. I realize that Kurzweil's Singularity is near but it hasn't arrived for me (yet).
