Katie Holmes' first post-divorce outing was a trip to Parsons, where she filmed a guest-judge spot for "Project Runway All Stars." We speculated that for Holmes, Life After Tom might include a rise in the fashion world as a celebrity designer mogul, a la Jessica Simpson or the Olsen twins.
It seems we weren't so far off. Today Women's Wear Daily confirms that Katie is revving up her fashion line, Holmes & Yang, with a presentation during New York Fashion Week in September. Although the location is unconfirmed, the presentation will ensure Katie's skinny black pants, cardigans and solid blouses get the top billing they deserve.
And it's likely a sign of (fashion!) things to come. Elle had the good fortune of booking Holmes for its August 2012 issue and gave the star a sexy makeover for the cover. In the pre-divorce interview, parts of which leaked today in the New York Post, Katie hints at a life without Tom Cruise:
In response to a question about her identity as Mrs. Tom Cruise. “He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years,” she says. “I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that.”
Which honestly just makes us so happy to hear. First stop: "Project Runway All Stars." Next stop: New York Fashion Week. And for the stop after that... who knows? We're psyched to see what Katie Holmes is capable of.
