ACL Injuries May Be More Common In Men Than Women: Study

Despite research suggesting women's knees are more prone to ligament injuries, a new Swedish study finds that men in that country have a greater number of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, and surgeries to fix them, than do Swedish women.

many times the knee joint will pop out of place , people dont realize it when they are younger , but in years to come knee pain will set in because when your knee is out of alignment it wears at the cartlidge , its kinda like having sand in ball bearings , a really good chiropractor will know how to reset your knee cap and joints back in place . i know from personal experience , i had a double knee surgery , my surgeon did a cartlidge transplant and it worked , if it wasnt for my chiropractor i would be in for another knee cleaning by now , also theycan inject a gel that will last 6 to 8 months and will give tremendous relief , mine was a series of 4 shots . one a week for 4 weeks , thank you dr leaman for rebuilding my knees

most non-athletic knee problems are caused by being overweight and out of shape, both are easily remedied life CHOICES made by lazy people

you are 100 percent right. my LAZY self tore a PCL in a moped accident. I should have walked to my destination (5 miles away) and because I am a woman I chose to be lazy and had the NERVE to ask my parents to seek care. I needed to suck it up and suffer like a man. My husband should be shot for allowing me to have it repaired when it was my own fault.

Get REAL... It is VERY easy to tear a ligament with no athletic and NOT be lazy... You also probably agree with my sarcasm...

My wife, very lean and athletic had to have a total knee replacement at 50--born with a syndrome called "German Hunters Knee" caused it to dislocate enough that it finally had to be replaced. She passed the gene on to both of our sons. I only gave them bad shoulders!

We carry more weight and generally exert more physical energy, be it sports, or the honey do list. Then we do nothing for long periods...only to hop to like we never lost a step. It's rough on body parts.
