Secret Service, Police Arrest Boaters Outside Mitt Romney Fundraiser

Two boaters in waters off The Creeks, billionaire Ronald Perelman's 57-acre East Hampton Village estate — where Mitt Romney was scheduled to be present for a campaign fundraiser — were arrested Sunday afternoon when they failed to comply with police orders, according to police.

I doubt it but I am certain their civil liberties were not violated. I believe public access is still legal on state roads and in boats. I remember when George W. Bush visited a community college where I once taught and the security was outrageous. His security detail acted as thugs and students were not allowed to attend the invitation only event at a public institution of learning. The whole event was staged so that his imperiousness did not have to answer any questions, inept as he is.

Robme quickly donned his state cops uniform, which he keeps at the ready 24/7, and swiftly handcuffed Fink, who was about to flee the scene in his sailboat. Since it was dead calm, and the boat did not have a motor, Robme would have had to wade in after him to make the arrest.

And where do the local police get off making a boundary on public waters that are reserved for the landowner. If they weren't charged with trespassing, they weren't and the disobeying a police officer, when he had no right to begin with is civil disobedience at worst. Could you imagine the police blocking the public road on both sides of your street for your garage sale?

Today, Mitt Romney is holding a series of fundraisers in the Hamptons, culminating with a huge event at the home of billionaire David Koch. The LA Time in on the scene and reporter Maeve Reston caught up with a donor on her way into one of the events.

The woman, who wouldn’t reveal her name, said the following:


I don’t think the common person is getting it…my college kid, the baby sitters, the nails ladies — everybody who’s got the right to vote — they don’t understand what’s going on. I just think if you’re lower income — one, you’re not as educated, two, they don’t understand how it works, they don’t understand how the systems work, they don’t understand the impact.


The recommended contribution for the event she was attending was $25,000.
