Diane Mennig, a 52-year-old teacher from Onslow County, N.C., was arrested for allegedly giving alcohol to students between 15 and 18 years old and allowing them to drink at her house, WCNT-TV reports.
Authorities told the station the fourth grade teacher allegedly gave liquor and malt beverages to the minors last year between November and January.
According to the Daily News of Jacksonville, a school district spokesman said the 25-year teacher's future employment is under discussion.
“We will be talking with Ms. Mennig in the next few days to determine employment status,” Barry Collins, Onslow County Schools spokesman told the paper.
The Associated Press reports Mennig, who has a daughter in high school, faces counts of giving liquor to people under 21, giving malt beverages to people under 21, and abetting an underage person possessing and consuming alcoholic beverages.
