"Gone Girl" is going to the movies.

With the commercial success of "The Hunger Games" and the pop culture buzz surrounding "Fifty Shades of Grey," it was only a matter of time until the summer's most popular novel, "Gone Girl," got a movie adaptation of its own.

Gillian Flynn's bestselling thriller -- which is currently atop the New York Times' Best-Seller List -- is headed to the big screen, according to Deadline.com. "Gone Girl" is a tightly woven novel told from two perspectives: a husband whose wife suddenly goes missing and the missing wife herself.

Reese Witherspoon, Bruna Papandrea, and Leslie Dixon will head up the adaptation, while Flynn is attached to write the screenplay. The rights reportedly went for seven figures.
