Kyrie Irving may be taking on some of the more braggadocious qualities of his playground alter-ego Uncle Drew in the wake of the runaway success of his viral soda ad.
Or, the 2011-2012 NBA Rookie of the Year is just very confident that he can defeat Kobe Bryant in a one-on-one game.
After a stellar debut season, the No. 1 overall pick in 2011 NBA Draft is impressing scouts at the Team USA camp as a Select Team member. During a workout on Monday, Irving challenged the Black Mamba to a $50,000 wager. Per the terms of the bet, the loser would donate the money to a charity of the winner's choice. With neither willing to back down, some playful chirping blossomed into a full three minutes of trash talk hilarity.

"Get your dad on the phone right now," Bryant jawed. "Be like, 'Pops, I'm trying to bet Kobe 50 grand I can beat him one-on-one.' He'll be like, 'Son, are you crazy?'"
Irving fired back by reminding Kobe that he'd have to guard him, which may be a pretty daunting task considering that he has been running circles around the team in scrimmages.
"You're not going to lock me up," Irving promised. "You're not going to lock me up. It's over."
Will the two actually go head-to-head? Although both agreed to the showdown with a handshake that was caught on camera, we'll have to wait until next summer to see if they come through.
