Senate Democrats will push a one-year tax cut proposal for individual Americans earning $200,000 or less annually, setting the stage for a showdown in coming weeks with Republicans over extending the Bush tax cuts, according to a new plan circulating on Capitol Hill.

This is the reason business is not hireing. Uncertainty and no long term security. Successful business plans go out 5 and 10 yrs not one, that's a recipe for failure. Harry is a tool of Obamas ignorance in business matters, as are most who work in government.

If you are in the bracket between 200 and 250 thousand dollars, first let me say, Congratulations. Now, here are a few options. One, you could put a chunk of your money in an IRA (presumably that will be taxed at a lower rate once the republicans return to power). Or, If you all ready have more money than you will ever need in retirement, consider donating some money to a qualified charity. That will reduce your burden, while at the same time reducing ( presumably) the burden of someone else. Finally, if these options don't appeal to you, maybe you should just except less money for what you do, Then you wouldn't need to give so much back.

The Dem plan is very transparent.
Extend the tax cuts for one year, hope for BO to get re-elected than give us a Bill Clinton style tax increase.
He'll just use Clinton's "I looked everywhere, but we've got to raise taxes on everyone" script.
It's other people's money and they love to spend it.

The biggest spender? W. Under President Clinton, who did raise taxes, we had the best economy of the post WWII period. Any other lies I can help you with?

Any one who votes Dem should not complain next year when their taxes go up. Just like Obama's illegal immegration, good for 2 years only, then needs to be approved again. This is basically voter bribery, vote for us or else this expires. This is also why compnaies are not hiring, all breaks are for a year or will expire with Bush tax cuts. Companies need to know long term what their costs are, not just from election day to election day.

Obama and the Democrats are so blowing the description of the tax cuts. They keep erroneously describing the cuts as for anyone below the $200k or $250k level, with upper income brackets receiving a tax increase. That is a false description that is misleading way too many people. The fact is that everyone gets the break on the first 200/250 of earned income. The repugnant position is that richer people should get an additional tax cut above and beyond that which everyone else gets. The issue isn't that some receive a break and others don't, but that all receive the same break, and then the rich want more on top of that.

Here's what I propose. End the automatic 8% annual spending increases. Five precent across the board tax cuts each year for five years, EVERY DEPARTMENT. Let the department heads make the cuts not congress.

Five year phase out of all deduction, tax credits, and subsidies.
