Sprint: 4G LTE Network Up In Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, And San Antonio

FASTER: Sprint Nextel Corp. has turned on its new wireless data network, providing a much-needed boost to the carrier, whose data speeds lag those of its largest competitors.

LOCATIONS: Sprint fired up the fourth-generation, or 4G, network in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, San Antonio and some smaller surrounding cities. It uses LTE, or Long-Term Evolution, technology already in use by Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc.

COMING UP: Sprint is planning to expand LTE coverage this year and largely complete the network buildout next year.

No it does not work in Dallas yet, Sprint is lying about the 4G LTE coverage. DON'T BUY IT!!

i am in Dallas and have connected to the 4G network, but it never seems to work...I am wondering if they are still not allowing consumers to use the network, but have let connections occur by mistake. i have only experienced the LTE network a few times and everytime it is slower than their 3G. I stream videos on 3G from Netflix, but when 4G is connected it never streams...just says that it can't stream at this time.

As far as Atlanta goes I work on baker street at suntrust plaza and I do get 4g lte speeds from my building up through part of midtown

Can anyone report on how this LTE service isnt even working in San Antonio or Dallas and from what I have been reading in the Sprint Forums in Atlanta as well? I have driven all around San Antonio looking for 4G LTE and nothing. Its so annoying to read 4G LTE has landed for sprint blah blah blah! Well Im glad your excited because I upgraded my EVO to the new LTE and now I dont even have 4G as I did on my previous EVO. Basically Sprint told me, it is in San Antonio but we just haven't put all the towers up! REALLY?? Then why does your coverage area show that San Antonio is saturated in 4G LTE?? Needless to say they gave me 100 dollars off my service..25 a month for 4 months. SOMEONE REPORT THE TRUTH PLEASE!! ITS NOT WORKING!! Anyone that says it does is lying...I have friends in DALLAS and a brother in ATLANTA...NOT WORKING.

Sprint has more than catching up to do. With the way Ericsson has shifted their operations centers to India and Mexico, plus the addition of contractors, the company is in total disarray. Even the field technicians are having a hard time trying to communicate with Sprint's infrastructure. In order to get their company back on track, Sprint needs to bring those jobs back to the U.S.. Everyone knows that each company shares towers, but you have to get that ethernet backhaul up to date. Whatever happened to the partnership with Huawei?

Ive had non LTE 4g with Sprint for over 2 years, how are they playing catch up?
Is LTE really that much better? I get about 6mbps down and 1-2mbps up with them now.

WiMax is extremely limited. LTE speeds can easily quadruple what you're currently getting.

You must not have a phone that works. I've read numerous articles on Sprint's LTE network that were tested in Atlanta and it's download speeds are consistently faster than both T-Mobile and Verizon. Well, I'm not due for a phone upgrade for another 15 months, so that's more than enough time to get their 4G network up and running in my neck of the woods.

It's only partially up in the DFW area. According to a Sprint employee, technical problems prevented them getting it fully activated, and it will take a few days.

Not sure what part of the country you live in, but in Tampa, FL we have many options for a mobile provider. The prices very from $25.00 for basic phone services to $79.99 unlimited plans with Sprint. Doesn't sound like colluding to me.

What you clearly don't know is that many of these "options" use the very same networks... There are essentially only 4-5 providers in the US, versus hundreds in countries like Japan and Korea.

Bs. There is no 4g in atlanta. Sprints coverage map looks very pretty, but i can tell you that there is zero actual service in the highlighted area where it is supposedly up and running. Sprint has yet to acknowledge this fact to the public and provide an explanation.

I can attest to this, I have 3 evo lte devices, updated, went through troubleshooting with sprint several hours, no 4G. Tried in several different locations that are supposed to be covered in Sprint's coverage map.

I get a VERY faint 4g symbol at the top of my loft in midtown, and of course sprint's customer service is like "well it should be up in your area according to our maps"...oh sprint
