Stock photo sites are strange places. With the click of a button you enter a world of beach vistas, artfully arranged puppies, and women in unfortunate lingerie striking "sexy" poses. Though some images in these massive libraries are uploaded in response to specific needs, many stock photos are contributed by photographers hoping someone, someday, might need an image of a clothed cat surrounded by money and caviar.

Whoever tags stock photos for search seems to have some interesting ideas about how women spend their time between June 21st and September 21st. A basic search for terms like "women summer" and "woman in the summertime" brings up an array of images from the predictable (women in bikinis) to the inexplicable (nothing says "summer" like a woman biting a man's ear, apparently).

Among the search results, a few clear themes emerged. According to stock photos, women spend the warmer months waving scarves around in sunny meadows, playing with citrus fruits, and pouring sand around.
