Camp Pendleton Patch:

A military public affairs team pulled a public service announcement that featured former Camp Pendleton Marine Gary Stein.

The former sergeant was given an other-than-honorable discharge in April after he had written comments critical of the president on the Facebook page Armed Forces Tea Party.

If you haven't gone over to the Camp Pendleton Patch website to see the comments to the above article, you are really missing out.

There's a guy there that says the President wont salute the flag and a whole other host of loons. lol

I saw those comments. I wouldn't call it comedy, though. It's downright frightening to think some of the people commenting there are supposed to be defending this country. My husband is a Vietnam veteran and no way does he agree with the whack jobs posting there.

As a woman who served wearing the Forest Green of the Marine Corps, proudly, and whose family is filled with Marines going back a hundred years or more, I'm outraged at this phony.

He isn't worthy.....not ever.....to put USMC on any resume. He is a disgrace to my Corps and to my Family and to my country.

Thanks for your opinion. It suggests you don't understand or don't support the concepts of freedom embodied in the Constitution that the Marine Corps exists to defend. He clearly violated policies and suffered the consquences. Fortunately, neither you or Gary Stein can impose your narrow views on others, but no matter how offensive, are FREE to express them, responsibly.

He seems every bit as qualified as you are to put his service on his resume. When he does, he may well be asked and need to answer to the circumstances of his discharge, for the rest of his life.

Here's the deal.

He is free to express whatever he wants......except in the military.... There, you follow the UCMJ ....period.

AND, he may tell everybody but the pope that he served.....no matter. His discharge conditions will block a lot of roads for him.........

And, he still isn't worthy to have worn the uniform of the Marine Corps.

Every once in a while a boob slips by the vetting...he's one of them

In this country we train extremists,domestic terrorists,militia members,anarchists, and malcontents. They receive the best training under false pretense. No one knows the motivations of the Gary Steins of this nation until these motivations become acts of aggression. The seed is planted in the mind of an extremist long before an Oklahoma Bombing. And ethnoviolent rhetoric does have consequences,irregardless of what the Limbaughs,Becks, or Hannitys would have you to believe. It was not too long ago that Oreilly inspired the assassination of George Tiller.
