Twitter On Cheating: Tweeters Weigh In On When It's Okay To Cheat

On Wednesday, Tweeters used the hash tag #cheatingisokif to give their collective opinion on what -- if anything -- makes cheating acceptable.

While most people railed against the trending topic, tweeting that it was never okay to cheat, others made some notable exceptions. An example? There's a certain "Magic Mike" star who makes cheating morally justifiable for some.

When I was younger I never had a girlfriend because I liked dating different women ! I made that clear to any woman I dealt with ! It may not be the best way but it beats cheating and hurting someone !

Basically, no. There might be a few cases - you're really gay. You were forced into an arranged marriage as a minor. You and your partner live somewhere that divorce is impossible and you agree to go your separate way.

But for most Americans, no.

Cheating.. I told my girlfriend she could sleep with any other man she wanted... the second she's decided she never wants to speak to, hear from or see me again. I would have her belongings in a big pile in the driveway waiting for her...

It is really sad to see how casual this topic is becoming. It is almost like cheating has become so common place that it should now be considered acceptible or expected.

Perhaps I am old fashioned but I took my marriage vows seriously. Unfortunately cheating leads to lying and other behaviors that makes you question the character of the person. My soon to be ex is no longer a person I recognize. Once a man of honor, his affair destroyed several families including ours, hers (she was married to his friend with 2 kids), their workplace is divided (he, she and her husband all work for same place) and the relationship with his parents/brothers.

I am sorry but it is not acceptible. If you are unhappy then talk with your spouse, get help and if issues cannot be resolved file for divorce where you will be free to explore new relationships that will make you happy. That is much better than the humilitation, hurt and destruction that an affair can cause to everyone.

Back when the courts stopped making it illegal to cheat is when the rest of society started going down the drain when it came to cheating. For many it appears that a society repeatedly states everything is ok as long as people consent to it; it turns into a slippery slope of doing whatever you want.
