As part of our Ask Healthy Living series, a reader asked us to investigate why you might feel especially hungry the morning after a large meal. While researchers had a few ideas about why a big meal might cause increased hunger, they also had some thoughts for preventing the big meal from happening in the first place: eating high volume, low-density foods like salad greens and meals with a balance of fiber and protein to keep you feeling satiated for longer.

But readers had a few suggestions of their own, as well. In fact, one commenter suggested eating an apple before any big meal to reduce hunger:
