'Dates From Hell': Teenage Couple Gunned Down On Their First Date (VIDEO)

There's something special about a first date. It can be nerve-wracking and stressful, but it should never go like the tragic first date featured on "Dates from Hell" (Wed., 10 p.m. ET on ID) this week. The nightmarish true story of two teenage friends who decided to take their friendship to the next level.

Yvette and Zach had been friends for years, making the horrors of their first date even more harrowing. The couple went to a reservoir to take pictures, only to be gunned down in a senseless and random shooting.

Yvette didn't die in the shooting, but had to play dead while their assailant rooted through her pockets looking for money. After he left she crawled to the road and was able to flag down a car. But by the time help could get back to Zach, he had died from his injuries.

Yvette said that one of the things that helped her recovery the most was that Zach's mother offered her a warm embrace shortly after learning that her son had died.

The murderer was tracked down, captured and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

"Dates from Hell" features new stories every Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on ID.
