Growing older feels like it happens right before our eyes, but Swiss directors Ramon and Pedro decided to make this figure of speech into a stunning reality with their short film "Le Miroir" ("The Mirror").
The film begins with a young boy getting ready in the bathroom, facing his own reflection. Every time he loses sight of himself for a moment he grows older, until at the end of the five minute video he is removing his dentures and reaching for a cane. As bittersweet as aging itself, the film will make you pause for a moment the next time you catch a glimpse of your reflection while washing your hands. Although the film looks deceptively simple, a lot of work was involved in creating the fictitious entity who grows from childhood to old age before our eyes.
