Alie Cole Hostetter, a 26-year-old middle school teacher from Murray, Utah, died from injuries she sustained when a bus hit her as she stopped to help a scooter crash victim Wednesday afternoon, Salt Lake City's ABC-4 reports.
The Deseret News reports investigators have said that since Hostetter walked into the path of the bus, the Utah Transit Authority is not at fault in the incident.
Zac Tueller, a student at North Star Academy who had Hostetter as a teacher last year, said the teacher's "good samaritan" act fit her personality.
"She always helped people. She was just there for everyone," Zac told the Deseret News. "She was more than a friend, (more than) a teacher."
KSL-TV reports the woman who crashed her scooter was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
