A man brought in what he thought were perhaps used for medieval birth control. But they weren't quite as old as he had hoped, which may have had an impact on their value. But at least he knew for sure what they were.
When an employee thought one of them a helmet and put it on his head, the woman behind the counter on "Auction Kings" (Thu., 9 p.m. ET on Discovery) quickly corrected his mistake. What he had on his head wasn't a helmet, but rather a chastity belt.
A historical expert clarified that the belts were likely from the late 19th or early 20th century. They were certainly a unique item, but buyers weren't hurrying up to bid on them when they went up for auction. Finally, one man did pick them up for $200.
"I think it would be an interesting conversation piece when company comes by the house," he said. "Who has a chastity belt?” Indeed, in this day and age ... who would?
