Totally cute but I have a question. Why are these farmers (or any farmers) wearing baseball caps? Baseball caps were made to keep the sun out of baseball players' eyes so they'd be more likely to catch and hit a baseball. Baseball caps don't have enough coverage to protect your neck from the sun.

Why don't farmers wear full coverage, wide brim hats? It looks like they are in the sun most of the day. Why is it the style to wear a work cap that actually isn't effective for where you work? Gardener's "farm" to a lesser extent and hats described as "Gardener's hats" are wide brim full coverage. Does anyone with experience on a farm know the answer to this question?

Here in California you can drive the Interstate 5 from Los Angeles to the Bay Area. Along the route there is a lot of farm land. Depending on the time of year you drive the route you'll see migrant farm workers in the fields. If they have on baseball caps underneath the cap they have fabric that drapes over their neck/shoulders to keep the sun off. But most of them don't have baseball caps, they have wide brim hats, Asian style.

It's mostly a product of American rural/farm culture. There are also a host of other reasons why the wide-brimmed hat has fallen out of favor stylistically.
