It was an epic saga by "Louie" (Thu., 10:30 p.m. ET on FX) standards as the first of a two-part dating story began. Louis' daughters encouraged him to start dating again to try to find a girlfriend they could meet and enjoy as much as Mommy's "friend."
In typical Louis fashion, he jumped blindly into bed with a comedian he found amusing, and without really trying to get to know her or make a connection he invited her over to his place for dinner with him and his daughters. This after she'd just told him he was rather disappointing in bed.
So imagine Louis' surprise when he proved successful. After bonding with a very nice lady at a bookstore where he picked up a few books for his eldest daughter, he came up with a very Louis, very self-deprecating way to ask her out. It was so awkward and hilarious that it was brilliant.
Even better for Louis, it worked. And that's where the episode left him, with the fist pump of victory. But this is "Louie." It can probably only go downhill from here.
"Louie" continues Thursdays at 10:30 p.m. ET on FX.
