Marilyn Monroe's Fashion Legacy (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Marilyn Monroe's Fashion Legacy

Marilyn Monroe is an enduring sex symbol, but she's less known for her influence on the world of fashion. Today, fans envision her as the coy blonde barely taming an unruly white halter dress, but she donned outfits more chic and more scandalous.

In "Marilyn in Fashion" [Running Press, $30.00], authors Christopher Nickens and George Zeno discuss the bombshell's stunning and revealing get-ups that stood out in an era of repressed sexuality. The book includes never-before-seen photos of Marilyn in garments designed by Oleg Cassini, Dorothy Jeakins, Norman Norell and Emilio Pucci.

She looks sultry in sheer get-ups and nearly-nightgown silk dresses, but also pulls off comfy, preppy looks in headbands and slouchy sweaters.
