While they sadly didn't share any screen time, viewers got to see Mike Tyson's infamous face tattoo throughout the "Late Night" (Thu., 12:37 a.m. ET on NBC) broadcast. That's because when first guest Matt Lauer came out, he was also sporting the unique look.

Lauer explained, in mock embarrassment, that he'd had a bad connection when getting booked on the show.

"I thought he said, ‘It’s Mike Tyson night tonight.’ So I went right downtown," Lauer said, before hanging his head and further explaining that his own tattoo would wear off in about six weeks.

It would have been fun to see Tyson and Lauer compare tattoos, but alas it wasn't to be. Tyson came out with the real deal after Lauer had left. Still, the homage was certainly a memorable and hilarious moment for Lauer.

Matt Lauer can be seen on "Today" every weekday morning at 7 a.m. ET on NBC. Then stay up late for "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," weeknights at 12:30 a.m. ET, also on NBC.

TV Replay scours the vast television landscape to find the most interesting, amusing, and, on a good day, amazing moments, and delivers them right to your browser.
