John McCain, Barbara Boxer To Star In Episode Of 'Parks And Recreation'

The hit NBC comedy "Parks and Recreation" is rolling in some some A-list celebrities for cameos once the show resumes this fall -- and they're not just playing politicians, they already are.

The New York Times reports one episode will be shot on location in Washington, D.C., and will feature Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.).

Executive Producer Michael Schur told the Washington Post the episode takes place in the capital because Leslie Knope, now a city council member for Pawnee, Ind., is trying to decide whether she wants to enter "the next level of American politics."

Schur also notes their five-episode stay in D.C. will give Knope a chance to adorably geek out over all of the city's political landmarks.

TV Line reports the senators will play themselves at a cocktail party attended by Ben (Adam Scott) and Leslie (Amy Poehler).
