Vitamin A hit primetime Friday night at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, having been designated this year's "Mercedes-Benz Presents designer" following labels including Herve Leger by Max Azria, Red Carter, Monique Lhuillier, Badgley Mischka, Trina Turk, and Narciso Rodriguez. (Now that's what you'd call a fashion dinner party.)
On the menu: designer Amahlia Stevens' caftans, cover-ups, and seemingly inexhaustible supply of one-pieces, bikinis, bandeaus, shorts, and more. ("This is A LOT of looks!" exclaimed the expert next to us, awed.) Fab fabrics, including one spectacular Champagne-colored diamond pattern, were highlighted in great cuts that were both sexy and athletic; one grouping went overtly Miami with headscarfs and wraps trailing in the brightest of blues and pinks. But while the rainbow collection threatened to steal the show, the return to luxurious black -- styled with gold chains and cuffs -- was anything but basic, and the royal-and-rust fringed bikinis were to die for.
Styling we especially loved: the slightly ratty, fanned hair extensions that actually resemble what our coif does after a long dip in salt water -- and played well against bronze glamazon makeup.
