Happy Birthday, Charisma Carpenter!

The half-Spanish actress, who is surely one of the most beautiful mujeres in Hollywood, is turning 42 today and what better way to celebrate Charisma's birthday than by looking at photos of her throughout the years!

And, if you're scratching your head right now asking yourself: "Is Charisma really half-Spanish?" the answer to that question is, yes! Last year, the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum broke down her Latin roots to Latina.com. "I think it's the best kept secret ever!" Charisma told the website last July, explaining that her grandfather was born in Spain. "You need to get it out there that I'm a proud Latina," she said.

I saw a video where Charisma says she was worried in the early years that people might associate her too close with Cordelia Chase. She was worried that they would think she had Cordelia's character. Of course, given the arc of Cordelia's character over the two series Charisma didn't need to worry. Cordelia's character probably had more growth than any Buffy/Angel character surpassing even Willow or Wesley. Cordelia goes from being a vapid, narcissist driven by concerns of money and fame to a being a true heroine who is the opposite of all that. She was even selfless at the moment of her death.

Half of them claim they don't speak spanish or do so badly yet-some are 1st generation spanish in america...which means parents are from a spanish speaking country and speak predominantly spanish in their households ---so how did they communicate w/ parents...pantomime..crude hand signals?!!! oh come- on! Grow up in spanish speaking households eating spanish food..why do spanish/latin people only want to claim roots to spain..as if only european/white spanish roots are acceptable ...could see if they were fair and light eyed like christina aguilera and cameron diaz,(whom incidentally grew up in miami & doesn't speak spanish?!!!) vanna white is half puertorican she has dark eyes ...dont let the bleached hair fool ya.

those whom don't have issues w/ it eva mendez, salma hayek, jennifer lopez, selena gomez ...although they chosen to date mostly white they don't have identity issues & are comfortable being latinas of cuban, mexican &puertorican ancestry & famous to boot!
