Car Wash Rescue After Woman Drives Into Hackensack River (VIDEO)

SCARY VIDEO: Woman Drives Away From Car Wash And Crashes Into River

Some people are convinced that if they wash their car, it's sure to rain within three days.

That didn't happen to an elderly woman from River Edge, N.J. Instead, she drove into the Hackensack River, practically three minutes after getting her car cleaned. Luckily, a car-wash employee and customer rescued her.

The woman, whose name has not been released, made her big splash Sunday afternoon. She apparently hit the wrong pedal as she drove out of the Spotless Auto Laundry drive through, sending the vehicle into the river and narrowly missing a parked car, according to NewMilford-NJ Patch.

She was rescued by car wash employee John Goez and Jay Corsino, a customer, and taken to Hackensack University Medical Center.

“I thought about my own mother,” Goez told NorthJersey.com about why he jumped into the river. "She was scared, crying.”

The car was almost underwater when Goez and Orsino of River Edge, went into action.

“I kept telling her, ‘Don’t worry, we’re going to get you out of here,’” Goez told NorthJersey.com. “We couldn’t open the door because of the water pressure. Thank God, the window was half open. We got her through the window.”

Hackensack firefighters launched a boat to the car and searched inside to make sure no one was trapped and secured the car so it would not be swept away, according to North Milford-NJ Patch, while fire crews attached a cable allowing a heavy-duty tow truck to hoist the car from the river.

A tow truck eventually retrieved the vehicle, according to Fox News.
