Beauty Street Style: JaKenna Gilbert, Digital Strategist, Prefers Homemade Face Scrubs

In our Beauty Street Style series, we find inspiring girls around New York City and get the secrets to their look.

This week we met JaKenna, a digital strategist and style blogger, who swears by making her own face exfoliator. "My roommate and I concocted this scrub because when you go to the store you don't know the ingredients that are in the products, and you want to make sure you're putting good stuff on your face. So we make a scrub from granulated sugar, honey and yogurt. First we boil a pot of water and hold our faces over it to open the pores, then apply the scrub and follow with a moisturizer. You can also put lavender or rosemary in it, too." She also filled us on how she gets those insanely long lashes. "This mascara from Benefit is my new beauty obsession! If you use it for a month or so your lashes actually start to get longer, it enriches them. People actually ask me if they're real!" Check out the rest of her beauty essentials below.
