Maryland Budweiser Accident: Beer Truck Spills 77,000 Pounds Of Brew Onto Interstate 270 (UPDATED)

Budweiser Crash Covers Highway In Beer

WASHINGTON -- Budweiser lovers: your worst nightmare has been realized.

A truck spilled some 77,000 pounds of Budweiser beer onto a Maryland interstate early Thursday morning, according to WTOP. (Other reports put the figure closer to 50,000 pounds.)

Part of the highway was closed during the morning commute while the spill was being cleaned up, an effort that was expected to "be extensive," and may take a long time, reports WTOP-FM.

UPDATE: WTOP reports that the highway is "no longer awash in beer."

This article has been updated to attribute WTOP with the report that 77,000 pounds of beer spilled on the highway, and to note that another publication put that weight closer to 50,000 pounds.
