poor coverage, the games should be covered by more than one network
02:30 AM on 08/12/2012
For once it seems that EVERYONE agrees( amazing on the Huff) that NBC's coverage of the games is horrible. The have paid billions for sole coverage until 2020. Perhaps we should write to NBC to replace the format, and the IOC to allow other stations, perhaps ESPN to cover sports. I would have like to see some of the Decathalon, we got 5 mins, of a 2 day event in which Americans took gold and silver, or Shooting, were we won a gold, the 3rd I believe.

I feel for the USA sports fans stuck with NBC. In the UK we have 24 temporary BBC channels for olympic coverage. All events covered live, in full, and uninterrupted.
The closing ceremony will take place at 2100 London time, will NBC show that time delayed?
You should have an extra time zone in the USA. NOT (nbc olympic time).

I already knew from the get-go NBC was not going to even bother with this one but tomorrow Mexico will play a historic match against Brazil for the Men's Soccer Gold Medal. Obviously, it's not the World Cup but we'll take it!

Thanks for MSNBC,CNBC,NBCSPORTS and BRAVO. Just looking at nbc one would miss sooo much.

Just have to say this. NBC's coverage of the Olympics STINKS. I'd like to see the Medal ceremonies instead of just hearing about the medals. I'd like more action and less talk from their reporters. Bottom line.....never give it to NBC again, they can't handle it. Seems they can't do much correctly anymore....they still have Matt Lauer.

People who watch the olympics an talk about hair should be watching something else they don't like sports.
05:10 PM on 08/09/2012
I watched every hole of the British open even though it came on at 3am in the moring on the east coast

Don't look at Gabby's hair, look at her skills. Such a shame there are so many haters in this world, the girl is just plain fabulous. I can't believe grown a-- women would have the audacity to try to find fault with such a precious, talented child. By the way, what are your children doing with their lives?

I thought that I heard Obama say that she looks like she could be his daughter.
09:09 AM on 08/10/2012
LOL....good one
08:46 PM on 08/10/2012
I give you she's talented but she didn't deserve to be in the all-around she had way too many mistakes than someone else that deserved to be there. Yes, you can say something about politics playing a little bit in gymnastics as usual!!!!

Well she won the Gold for the all around so apparently she did deserve to be there. And if you're implying that she was given breaks because she's black, you're disgusting.

NBC has a 6 hour delay broadcasting something 3,500 miles away. NASA has a 14 minute delay broadcasting from 155,000,000 miles away. NASA should broadcast the Olympics.

Can you imagine if Matt Lauer had been brought in to comment on the Mars landing?

I think I threw up a little in my throat when you suggested that. ;)

Leave Abby's hair alone. As far as the uniforms, The USA decides that
08:20 PM on 08/07/2012
I agree. look at her skills not her hair. Its a shame there are so many haters in this world. The girl is bad, can any one of you haters even hold on to a bar. get a life.

Can you stop saying that stupid elementary school word "haters"? Gabby is a superstar and I don't care what her hair looks like, but I really can't stand the word "haters", it's so childish and ridiculous.
06:40 PM on 08/10/2012
Thanks for agreeing with me!  I think Gabby is beautiful and full of positive energy

i don't see what is exciting about volleyball. its the most boring sport in the olympics. everytime they show it, i change the tv. wish they would stop playing it everyday.
02:06 PM on 08/05/2012
Thank you for this event schedule with the times. NBC's antipathy for showing events live has given me an Olympic-size case of vertigo about what's actually happening over there. Pity the fans of track and field, which happens to be the most popular participant sport in America, because we only get to see what NBC decides is important. Apparently the men's 10K final did not qualify, despite the fact that we won our first medal in the event (Galen Rupp--Silver Medal) in 48 years! It's just so much harder to create a narrative when you're reporting the events as they happen.
04:10 PM on 08/05/2012
I agree with you. It takes them way too long to develop their attempts at poetic story lines to wrap around events and participants that they miss a lot and so do we. My pet peeve is medal ceremonies. It's too much trouble for the network to show them and maybe their producers feel that we don't need to see them. It's the only time to see the faces of these champions, in most cases, and their glee when their flags are hurled. It means so much to participants. You can bet the dream team, should they win, will get their awards during prime time, but knowing NBC you might not even know if they will televise it real time.
11:04 AM on 08/07/2012
I am so glad you mentioned this. I have the same pet peeve. Very few medal ceremonies being shown...isn't that what the Olympics is mostly about? Instead we get to see Mary Carillo try to be a secret agent (the Ian Fleming bit?). Too much babble and delayed and limited programming.
