"American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest is excited to have Mariah Carey joining the show's judges panel. Carey signed on last week for a reported $18 million in the wake of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler's departures.
Seacrest sat down for an interview Thursday with "Today" host Matt Lauer, and boasted about Carey's credentials. "She's got that five-octave range, she's got the whistle registry, which is that high note she can hit, 200-plus million albums sold."
He also previewed what fans can expect from Carey's judging style. Seacrest reported Carey told him, "You know how I am. I'm very honest. I say what I'm thinking," to which Seacrest replied, "Great, you're gonna fit right in."
As for who will take Steven Tyler's spot on the panel, rumors are raging. Former "Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert and country star Brad Paisley are two of the buzzier names being floated right now, but Seacrest didn't provide any update on that search.
