Binki Shapiro Proves She Can Do More Than Music (VIDEO)

You may know her as the girl who once dated Fabrizio Moretti. Or perhaps you know her as the muse to designer Phillip Lim. Or maybe you recognize her as one of the vocalists behind the folksy band Little Joy. One way or another, Binki Shapiro is a name worth noting.

The California native has been making waves in the fashion and music scene alike, and recently invited Stylelist Blogger Network members Elisa Goodkind and Lily Mandelbaum of StyleLikeU into her home to get a better understanding of where she came from, as well as a good look at her enviable closet.

Shapiro's Los Angeles pad is full of beautiful things -- antique teacups, vintage armoires and one of a kind art -- so it isn't surprising that her keen design asthetic transfers into how she adorns herself. A self-described hoarder of clothing, she claims that her style is neither "wild" nor "crazy," simply "particular" (think Club Monaco striped tees, Vena Cava pants and Margiela boots). Although she is more keen to talk about her music, there is a certain specificity in the way that she dresses that is unique to those who really appreciate style.

Although she may have come into the spotlight for her relationship with one of the music industry's heavy-hitter, she certaintly has the chops to back up all her success. Not only is she multi-talented (she writes music, plays instruments and sings) but she also has a certain je ne sais quoi that has led music greats like Beck to look to her for inspiration.

Memorize this name. Binki Shapiro is here to stay.

Watch the video above to find out why she used to change in the bathroom before school, and how she plans to make a formal dress wearable day-to-day.
