Syria Crisis: Photos From Aleppo War Zone

PHOTOS: Syria's Largest City At War

Throughout the majority of the conflict in Syria, gun battles, shellings and bombings have taken place in Syria's smaller cities. However, after days of clashes in Damascus following a suicide blast that left four of Syrian President Bashar Assad's closest advisers dead, the battles have shifted to Aleppo, Syria's largest city.

With a population of 2.5 million, Aleppo presents a strategic and psychological fulcrum for both the Assad regime and opposition rebels. However the dust settles in Aleppo may turn the civil war that's tearing Syria apart.

Below are photos from the last week in Aleppo. High-resolution photos of the conflict are often difficult to come by, and the aimed rifles, anguished families and war-weary faces in these pictures provide a rare look at the conflict.
