After years of heartbreak, Giuliana and Bill Rancic's dreams of having a baby have finally come true. The couple welcomed a baby boy via a gestational surrogate late Wednesday evening, E! Online reports.

The reality TV pair were in the Denver hospital delivery room when Edward Duke Rancic, weighing in at 7 pounds and 4 ounces, arrived at 10:12 p.m.

"Bill and I are blessed beyond words to welcome Edward into our lives," Giuliana told E!. "Thank you so much to everyone who supported us along the way. We are so in love with the little guy already!"

The road to parenthood has been a hard one for the couple, who star together on their reality show, "Giuliana & Bill." After marrying in a fairytale Italian wedding in 2007, Giuliana, who co-anchors "E! News," and Bill, who won the first season of "The Apprentice," began trying to conceive in 2009. After not succeeding on their own, they began in vitro fertilization in 2010.

After suffering a miscarriage that same year, Giuliana was set to try IVF for the third time, but before she began, her doctor recommended she get a mammogram. It was after that screening that Giuliana was diagnosed with breast cancer, and the couple announced the devastating news on the "Today" show in October 2011. Though they would have to put their baby plans on hold to treat Giuliana's cancer, the couple remained optimistic about their future.

"This baby will have saved my life," Giuliana said of her future child on "Today," explaining that becoming pregnant could have had a negative effect on her cancer prognosis.

After Giuliana had a double mastectomy in December 2011 and was treated for breast cancer, the Rancics finally had some happy news to share with their fans and they announced in April that they were expecting their first child via gestational surrogate.

"We are so thrilled that our prayers have been answered," Giuliana said in a statement at the time, with Bill adding, "We are absolutely ecstatic to be sharing this with everyone who has been following our journey."

Since their big announcement, the couple have been preparing for their baby boy, and their new life as proud parents.

"I'm already worried about situations that aren’t happening for 16 years," Giuliana told HuffPost's Rob Shuter in July. “But I am going to do everything in my power to not be that person that shows baby pictures every 30 seconds because I know what that's like. But I can't make promises. Unless someone asks to see the picture, that's the golden rule I'm going to try to live by, but no promises. This baby is many, many years in the making."
