Since the first episode of "Covert Affairs" (Tue., 10 p.m. ET on USA), Annie has been trying to balance her professional career in the CIA with her home life with her sister Danielle. But in this week's episode, the writers bid farewell to the sister character, as Danielle moved to California.
It may have been the final send-off for actress Anne Dudek, but it allows the show to focus more on Annie's evolving relationships within the CIA, as well as her blossoming career. Perhaps the split focus had simply outlasted its usefulness as Annie went from a novice agent to a more seasoned professional.
The on-screen sisters did get to share a sweet final scene together when Danielle's flight was delayed by three hours. They said goodbye -- without daring to use that word -- over ice cream, and promised this wasn't the end.
Perhaps Danielle will fly back for a visit, or an assignment down the road will send Annie to California so the sisters can catch up.
"Covert Affairs" airs every Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on USA.
