Drake Set To Executive Produce Posthumous Aaliyah Album: REPORT

Drake To Produce New Aaliyah Album?

There were reports earlier this year that a posthumous Aaliyah album is in the works, and now comes news that Drake could possibly have a hand in the project.

According to hip hop site, HipHopDX, the Canadian-bred singer is reportedly expected to executive produce the as-yet-untitled album and may feature the late singer’s vocals on his forthcoming single, which he is rumored to debut at Toronto’s annual OVO Festival.

Although there’s no official statement or release date set for the project, the Grammy Award-nominated singer-rapper (who also has a tattoo of Aaliyah's face on his back) revealed during an March interview with Tim Westwood that he has some “special things” coming out with the songstress.

"I have some great Aaliyah news coming soon," he admitted during the interview. "Just some special things. Just gave you that, just a little. Because I said, I'm with Westwood, so I can't not... But great things, great things for music, period."

“More than anything, Aaliyah always made music that…it was never uncomfortable for me listen to. You know, it’s hard for me to ride around to a female singer, because at the end of the day I’m a man. But she always kept it so G with the writing and the melodies that it made it something to ride to,” he added.
