Ike Lochte, Ryan's Mom, Talks Son's 'One-Night Stands' And Lack Of Girlfriend

Ike Lochte, Ryan Lochte's mom, discussed his one-night stands.

Ryan Lochte is all about the one-night stands ... says his mom, Ike Lochte.

"He goes out on one-night stands. He’s not able to give fully to a relationship because he’s always on the go," the elder Lochte told TODAY.com on July 31st.

Earlier in July, Ryan Lochte spoke to ESPN The Magazine about how happy he was to be single during the London Games. "My last Olympics, I had a girlfriend -- big mistake," Lochte said. "Now I'm single, so London should be really good. I'm excited." He also told the magazine that he guessed that "70 to 75 percent of Olympians" would have sex during the Olympics. "Hey, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do," he stated. Apparently, he also discusses such plans with his mom.

It's unclear why Ike Lochte decided to discuss her son's sex life publicly, as she was on the TODAY set primarily to chat with host Matt Lauer about Ryan's athletic performance -- not his extracurricular ones.

"Everything he has done has been to the max,” Ike said of Ryan's Olympic races. (He's earned two gold medals and one silver so far.)

We're not the only ones confused about Ike Lochte's candid discussion of her son's one-night stands. Dr. Ruth tweeted her take on the situation this morning:

If his mom knew anything about instilling family values and had a loving relationship (or maybe she does with a female of her own according to Dr Ruth) she'd have been able to instill some family values, she knows nothing about parenting.... never heard a word from the woman until she got divorced and now she's popped out of the woodwork,--all the glory needs to be about Ryan not the mom who claims so much and concocts so many stories

Oh good grief!! The woman was NOT talking about her son's sex life. She meant he dated girls briefly (as in one time....) because he doesn't have time for relationships. Cut her some slack. They've already explained she didn't know the phrase "one night stand" had sexual connotations. No, she hasn't been living in a cave, but she's foreign-born and they make mistakes like this all the time.

The sex lives and the purported/manufactured personas of America's beloved athletes seem to be making headlines more often than their actual on field achievements. Perhaps this portrays the shift in the media's goals to shape these sports stars into promiscuous sex objects rather than role models.

Why would his mom know these things? I absolutely do NOT want to know about the sex lives of my sons. When they were little, I discussed the facts of life and when they got to adolescence, I talked about safe sex. Beyond that, I dont want to know.

Lochte's mom is waaaaaay too knowledgeable about his private doings.

I think everything that is going on in the media with him right now is all an illusion. He's creating this persona and the media is bending the truth, which in turn causes our perception of him to be quite different from how he actually is. He's definitely a cute halfy.
