Conservatives honored their own at the Washington Hilton Friday night in an event that featured Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and plenty of Washington-bashing but not much praise for Mitt Romney.

Nope, 70K per year. I am an electrical engineer having all the fun in the world working for an Illinois municipality. My work place also hires illegal aliens at 9 dollars per hour through a temp agency because, american workers do not want to work for that amount and they only have a Chicago High School diploma or GED.

I'm picking up on two things.

I don't see Romney choosing either Rubio or Jindal and winning this election. For every minority vote a move like this will shore up, I suspect he'll lose a redneck evangelical vote.

A Mormon and a Cuban/Indian?

Not on Joe the Plumber's watch.

Additionally, I don't really see how Romney can unite the Tea Party with moderate Republicans at the GOP convention. I think his speech is bound to disenfranchise one of those two groups..

You can continue with these so called entitlement programs or do away with them. If you do away with them you will get a new entitlement program I like to call jail entitlement. S is where people begin to commit crimes so they have enough money to eat and have a place to live and are able to cloth their kids. Then we as a society put them in jail where we will be spending even more money to house them and cloth them and feed them then we are currently spending under today's so called entitlement programs. But this would make the republicans happy because if people are commuting crimes to meet their basic needs at least they are working for their money.

Good God. There's a sane person in the asylum. You are right.
The Prison Industrial Complex is a back-door welfare state.
And Reagan's legacy in that regard is cause for massive disgust.
Between gutting public assistance, public education, busting unions and shipping jobs overseas; there were full blown drug wars first in the inner-cities and then the whole country. The War on Drug is a police state that tamped down the violence, effectively rolled back the Civil Rights Act, and has grown even as violence has fallen.
How do we know that gutting public assistance and education causes criminality? Because the states with the lowest taxes, lowest levels of public assistance (as measured by children and adults uninsured) and lowest per pupil investment in public education all have the highest rates of incarceration in the nation: Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
That's how Reaganomics works.

Other than blaming the other guy, I still don't see why the Tea Baggers are hammering the public sector unions. If the state, county, and city officials did their jobs rather than postpone wage increases by adding to retirement plans thereby letting the next guy take care of it, this wouldn't be an issue. If your goal is to pay someone minimum wage to put their life on the line for you, you better change your homeowner's insurance to 'replacement cost.'

Scott Walker - still destroying Wisconsin at the rate of 15,000+ jobs lost per month. Cuts off health care for disabled children, the elderly and poor; gives tax-free status to millionaires; sold his soul to the highest bidder. Nothing ever changes, and until the tea party is finally and truthfully declared a terrorist group, nothing ever will.

Why hire anyone when you can get the work done for a fraction of the cost overseas? Of course you short Uncle Sam by not employing Americans who pay American taxes, and you get tax cuts for being a Job Creator (in China or India or Vietnam) so you a compounding the deficit TWICE-OVER. But hey, who's counting?
Money, get back, I've got my jacket, hands off my stack.
