Never has philosophy seemed so edgy!

Mear One (né Kalen Ockerman), a popular street artist and graphic designer known for making political statements with his work, just published a video showcasing his latest work: an intriguing mural on Pasadena Avenue at 28th in Lincoln Heights.

As the short film below explains, the mural -- dubbed "The Allegory of Complacency" -- is inspired by Plato's "Allegory of the Cave." Although the artwork is surrounded by traffic lights and benches advertising "Total Recall," perhaps it will inspire passers-by to push the boundaries of their knowledge, and step out of their own metaphorical caves...

Or maybe people will just admire the colors.
