Small Business Owners And Time Management (INFOGRAPHIC)

As small business owners spread themselves ever thinner -- tackling from three to six different roles, on average -- effective time management becomes harder and harder to achieve. A new study and infographic by Mavenlink, for example, shows that one in four small business owners believe each productive hour in a day is worth upwards of $500.

Other surveys have pointed to the increased burden placed on these business owners in recent years, including one by Sage Small Business that found small business owners are not only working harder than they were five years ago, they're also working longer hours. Another survey by Citibank found that owners are sacrificing their pay as well as family or vacation time, in addition to working those longer hours.

So how can small business owners make the most of their time? Take a look at the statistics and tips -- including the incorporation of online platforms and proper prioritizing -- in the Mavenlink inforgraphic below:

Awesome Infographic!
Time is gold especially to those business owners who's got a lot of things to do. It's important to not waste any of it.
One of the biggest time waster is internet surfing. I have just bumped into this blog
( http://biz30.timedoctor.com/3-common-time-wasters-at-work/ ) about time wasters at work and it said that 64% of employees visit non-work related websites every day during work hours. They check social media accounts, emails and even chat with friends.
It's very important to manage our time but we should also make sure that none of our employees waste theirs on doing something non-work related.

Just as Quietspacing said, the problem with time management isn't being felt just by small businesses. Large businesses are also affected by the problem of too much information, and not enough time to process it all. By the way, the first four reasons that were raised (Waiting for information, unscheduled communication, inefficient coordination and planning to plan) are just a symptom of the general 'Too Many Meetings' disease. With the right planning, coordination and ways to pass information around, using tools like MeetingKing, small businesses will be able to manage their time much better.

my most recent boss had horrible time management skills. which i would have minded less if his slowness didn't directly affect the work i needed to be doing.

Not only are small business owners taking one multiple roles, so too are those in larger organizations. I speak regularly to audiences populated with small and large business/organization executives. Everyone is feeling the crunch of time. It's the "more with less" remnant of the Great Recession. My book - Focus Pocus: 24 Tricks for Regaining Command of Your Day (at Amazon at http://amzn.com/098189111X) - lists two dozen suggestions that help people get a little more done each day and enjoy their personal and professional lives more. Enjoy!
