A traditionalist might expect a bride to change her last name after marriage, while a feminist might suggest she do whatever she and her partner decide is best.

Playing the name game with your future spouse can be tricky. The options for newlyweds are wide open, but choosing among them -- keeping one name, hyphenating, combining or choosing something new -- can be hard. The Last Name Project -- a blog project headed by the Feminist Mystique and from two to one -- has collected a series of stories from men and women who are dating, engaged, married, or even single to talk about why and how they decided to change their names -- or not.

Click through the slideshow below to see examples from name-debating couples across the spectrum.
