Sarah Palin's glasses are her signature, her hallmark. Her very Palin-ness lives in those rimless, rectangular frames. When other women (Tina Fey, Julianne Moore, Helena Christensen) attempt to harness some of Palin's essence, they need simply to don the glasses and are thus transformed.

So allow us a moment of shock and confusion while we process this latest news: Sarah Palin has gotten a new pair of glasses.

Thanks to New York mag's Daily Intel, we caught this clip of Palin chatting with Sean Hannity on his Thursday show sporting a pair of wide, light brown plastic-rimmed glasses. The heavy-duty frames are a similar shape to her famous Kazuo Kawasaki-designed pair, but are far heavier and more distracting.

Perhaps the new shades are part of Palin's revamped, Superwoman look... or maybe she was just getting bored of her signature frames. Either way, we have to admit... we actually really like the new plastic pair. (Also, check out the new hair! Her wavy 'do is such an improvement.)

This isn't the first time Palin's switched up her spectacles. It's widely reported that before joining the vice-presidential campaign back in 2008, the Alaska governor rocked a thicker pair of plastic-rimmed glasses (seen here) for a decidedly less sleek look.

Clearly that didn't stick. Will this new look? Check out Palin in the video above and tell us what you think.
