W. Kamau Bell's new show, "Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell," premiered last night on FX, and the Chris Rock-produced show delivered on what the title promises. Proudly progressive ("I don't just lean to the left -- I lay down to the left," Bell explains), the show's a half-hour exploration of social injustice, politics and a grab-bag of other lefty pleasers. Plus, it's pretty damn funny.
But how exactly does a self-described underground comedian get the attention of Chris Rock and wind up with his own show on FX? We caught up with Bell, and he explained the origin story of how he and Rock met and the show came to be.
"Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell" airs on FX after "Louie" at 11 p.m. EST.
