Chadwick Lange is a big name in the real-estate game, but as in many tales before, a successful man does not a wise man make.

Lange recently moved to New York from Florida. On Sunday, this new-to-New-York naivete was promptly exploited by two thieves using one of the oldest tricks in the book.

Our fable goes like this: The 43-year old real estate broker, The Daily News reports, leaves his $150,000 2008 Maserati GranTurismo parked with the keys still in the ignition, and the engine running in the middle of Times Square.

He begins to chat with a friend, when two men approach him asking if they can take some photos of the impressive car. Lange agrees, and before he knows it, one of the men hops into the driver's seat and speeds away.

Lange is left with his mouth hanging wide open and his trust broken, now a real New Yorker.

Police are still tracking down the whereabouts of the Maserati.
