After more than a year of rumors surrounding a possible presidential run or vice presidential nod, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's (R) role at the 2012 Republican National Convention has been determined.
Christie was named keynote speaker for the event on Tuesday. He is already prepping a speech that will "try to tell some very direct and hard truths" to the American people, USA Today reports.
Back in October 2011, Christie ended speculation that he would be running for president, vowing that "now is not my time." He made it known that he was open to a spot as Mitt Romney's vice president, but Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) ended up being the selection.
